We have all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The word breakfast actually comes from the two words break and fast. We our literally breaking our fast because we haven’t eaten all night. Breakfast is especially important for our children. My children are now in their teens, so it’s important for them to have that “brain food” to get them through their day at school. Think outside of the box. Breakfast doesn’t have to be “normal breakfast foods. My daughter doesn’t particularly like breakfast foods. Here are some things that my children enjoy having for breakfast that are inexpensive and pack a punch of protein.
- Apples with peanut butter
- Whole grain waffles
- Grilled cheese with whole grain bread
- Whole grain cereal with skim milk
- Peanut butter on whole grain bread
