I just got back from Canada the other day. What an enjoyable trip! My kids and I headed to Detroit on the Megabus. My mom and her twin sister live there. My two kids and I rode round trip from Pennsylvania to Detroit for $6.50! You cannot beat that! The earlier you buy your tickets the lower the price. The only downside was that we were on the bus and extra hour than if we would of gone by car. I don’t like to drive long distances, and the price was right, so it was fine with me.
We stayed at my mom’s for two days then drove to Canada with my mom, aunt, and two children. My other aunt and uncle and cousins live in Ontario in Mennonite country. It was so nice to be around so much land. It’s very different from being in my subdivision. Every morning we had a wonderful breakfast. Some of the foods came from the local Mennonite bakery.

We visited Niagara Falls one day while we were there. My kids had never seen it. It was a drizzly day. We even got to go on the Maid of the Mist boat ride! This put you very close to the falls. We all got to wear blue hooded raincoats.
I hadn’t seen my aunt, uncle, and cousins in four years. It was so nice to be with family. I hope it isn’t another four years until we see them again.
If your thinking of taking a trip in the states or even Canada, consider the Megabus You can’t beat $1 a ticket! Even if you don’t get the cheapest rate it is still cheaper than driving, Greyhound or taking the train.
I live in Ontario and have rode the MegaBus, did you get to ride on the double-decker ones? So fun!

I’d love to see Niagra Falls….one day. Beautiful Country in Canada. Also a country I’d one day love to see, but I’m from the Southwest. I’m sure one day life will take me there.

I’m glad you had a nice trip! I feel it’s more relaxing and a better family experience (esp. when only one parent is traveling) to take public transit. You might enjoy reading about our entire vacation by public transit, with a six-year-old.

WOW! I just looked up the Megabus! AMAZING. My mother-in-law won’t fly, and it would add some serious time (like she would need 2 days for travel alone), but this would be a great and cost effective way to get her here or to get all five of us to go see her for under two grand! AMAZING.
Nice! We are a little further west in Winnipeg, so cannot take advantage..but what a bargain. And nothing like a little Niagra Falls to make the heart beat faster. Nice little blog…enjoy your SITS day!
The Megabus saved us a bunch of money before I got married! My husband used to ride to see me all the time, when he was too tired to drive. Visiting from SITS.
I always wanted to try riding on the megabus but they don’t have them outwest or down in FL!

I was able to visit Niagara Falls last October (I am from BC) and loved it..although I loved the quaint little town of Niagara on the Lake even more! Did you get a chance to visit that place? Thanks for bringing back some fond memories.
