I just finished a very thought provoking book called The Missional Mom by Helen Lee. I enjoyed it very much. It is about women who have made a difference in the world while still in the motherhood stage of life.
It emphasizes that the missional mom resists cultural pressures. Our country is very much influenced by consumerism. We have to ask ourselves if we are following what the world tells us is important and fulfilling or what God tells us. We also need to be aware of the needs in our world. Are we making a difference with our time, talents, and money?
Helen Lee also talks about creating the missional family. The missional mom involves her kids in living the missional life. She highlights mothers who live with purpose in the place where God has placed them. These women are passionate about bringing the love of God to others in a tangible way.
This book really made me think about how I am using all of my resources that God has given me. We have to start with where we are. I am going to be making small changes to how I use my time and money. I highly recommend The Missional Mom. If you are interested in a copy you can order here.
