National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week starts today. I was thinking it started tomorrow, that is why I’m a little late! This conference is near and dear to my heart. I don’t normally talk about this on my blog. Twenty years ago I became ill with symptoms that were very concerning. I was also going through a lot emotionally at the time. My firstborn daughter became seriously ill at six weeks old. She was in the hospital many months while I was struggling with my health. Many doctors and months later I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.
I’m sad to say that my daughter passed away at twenty-seven months. I’m sure all of that had something to do with my health. Life has had it’s many twists and turns. I now have two more beautiful children. A daughter who is sixteen and a son who just turned fourteen. I have had to pace myself and give up some of my dreams, but God has given me new dreams. You can read more about my journey with illness at Mothering From Day To Day.
The conference starts today with many great speakers, eighteen in all. The topics range from working with an invisible illness to parenting and relationships. I hope if you deal with chronic illness or know someone who does you will check it out. You can go here to find out more.
