My family and I love banana bread. I was excited when I found this low fat and low calorie recipe. My family still loved it!
Banana Bread
2 cups white whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 large egg whites
1 large egg
1 1/2 cup mashed ripe bananas
(from 4 medium bananas)
1/3 cup low-fat buttermilk
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly coat a 9″ by 5″ loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
In medium bowl , whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
In large bowl, with mixer on medium- high speed, beat sugar, egg whites, and egg until almost doubled in volume. On medium speed beat in bananas, buttermilk, and oil until well combined.
With rubber spatula, gently fold in flour mixture until just combined. Pour batter into prepared pan, smoothing top. Bake 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and let cool completely on wire rack.
I’m sure you will want to add this to your low fat recipes file and low calorie recipes file. ENJOY!
Ah looks so yummy! I’ll have to try this recipe out. I just love baking all kinds of breads.
Me too!
I have not made banana bread in awhile and I actually have bananas to do it. Yum! Thanks!
Found you from SITS 🙂
I always seem to have over ripe bananas!
We love banana bread, too. Can’t wait to try this – going to pin it.
Thanks Kim!
We love banana bread too but it is high in fat and calories but I love that yours has whole wheat flour in it and very little sugar. I’ve also seen it said that instead of the oil you can use apple sauce for the moisture. Just a thought. This sounds awesome! Sometimes I use chocolate chips or cranberries and blueberries but in doing that you’re upping the sugar content. Thanks for sharing such a healthy alternative!
Looks delicious! Thanks for sharing.
Happy Sharefest. I hope you have a great weekend.
That Banana bread recipe looks delish!
Definitely worth a try!
You can never go wrong with banana bread. Even with less sugar, it still tastes sweet and delicious! Nice to meet you from SITS!
