This Sunday is National Grandparents Day! Sometimes this holiday gets overlooked. I think it should be celebrated though. A woman by the name of Marian McQuade was known as the founder of this holiday. She wanted to educate the youth in her community about the contributions that seniors have made throughout history. She also encouraged youth to adopt a grandparent.
I have fond memories of my own grandparents. I also know how important they are in my own children’s lives. I was blessed to have all four of my grandparents living until I was a senior in college. They were always such an encouragement to me and lifted me up in countless ways. They would send cards and call me every so often. They would celebrate achievements with me also. I remember wonderful holidays and summer vacations with them. Here is one of my favorite pictures of me and my grandfather. I love how he’s holding my hand and has his other hand on my back making sure I don’t fall.
Now a generation later my father (my grandfather from the above picture’s son) is spending time with my kids. This is one of my favorite picture’s of my son with my dad. It is an old picture. My son just turned 15! I will cherish these memories and I hope they will too.
If you are blessed enough to still have your own grandparents or your children’s grandparents in your life make sure you do something special for them this Sunday. You could send a card or invite them out to lunch.
I found this cute printable for Grandparents Day from Dreams Turned Into Plans.
I hope you have a splendid grandparents day spending time with those who mean so much.
You may enjoy reading my post about how my grandmother had a big influence on my passion for crafting.

What a beautiful reminder of the importance of grandparents. My kids (age 28 and 31) are lucky enough to still have both sets of grandparents! And we are now grandparents ourselves. I tell you, it is something special to see how my husband just melts in the presence of our twin grand babies!
