We had such a rough winter this year. I was definitely ready for spring! I took down al my winter decorations and tried to think of some simple spring decorating ideas. I like things to look pretty, but I don’t want to spend a lot of time and money. I found this picture at Kohl’s a few months ago and originally thought it would be just right for my new craft room. I noticed though that the colors were perfect for my family room and I needed a change. These subway art pictures can be pricey. The original price was $70. I would never pay that much. I had a 30% coupon and a $5 off coupon and it was on sale. I love Kohl’s!
I love dried hydrangeas, but have not had much success with growing them. They hydrangea bushes only get a few blooms here and there. I was delighted when I went out with a friend and she told me she had a whole trunk full of dried hydrangeas from her garden! I put them in a vase and just love how the colors in the flowers match the picture. The wedding photo is my beautiful niece on her wedding day. The green candle I got from the mother I babysit for. She gave me two brand new packages of Ikea candles that she didn’t want anymore. My mom gave me the other candle. As you can see I spent very little on my decorations. The flowers and candles were free!
I love to put pictures of family on my mantle. My mom gave me these pretty flower candles a few years back that I never used. I thought they added a nice touch. I love my white candle holder. I purchased this when I went to Canada to visit relatives. I was 755 off! The flowers I got at a church rummage sale for 50 cents.
I decided to add one of the green Ikea candles to the mantle.
I love these colorful glass votives when I taught preschool a few years back. One of my students gave them to me at the end of the year. I leave them up all year long.
I love my sunny window in the kitchen. In my old house I didn’t have a window. I like to be able to look out at my yard when I’m doing dishes. My mom gave me these pretty mugs for Christmas. They had been sitting in the gift bag until just a couple of weeks ago. She bought them at a fair trade store. I think they are just beautiful! I love the little detail in the handles. Even though red is not a traditional spring color I thought the color popped when put with my Ikea plant. I think it looks so clean and crisp.
I love simple spring decorating without spending too much money or time. How do you like to decorate for spring or summer?
