I can’t wait to share with you my National Geographic children’s book review on Hey Baby a Collection of Pictures, Poems, and Stories from Nature’s Nursery.
I can’t say enough good things about Hey Baby- A Collection of Pictures, Poems, and Stories from Nature’s Nursery. My kids are entering adulthood, but I am a nanny to several young children who love animals. I can’t wait to share this with them! The pictures are breathtaking! I love the bright colors also!
This book has tons of real life like pictures of animals with lots of great information. Aren’t those the cutest baby bears you’ve ever seen!
The book not only has beautiful pictures and information on animals, but each section begins with a poem and ends with a photo gallery of more itty bitty babies called a Tot Lot. In between are profiles and pictures of each animal with stories about friendships between animals that you wouldn’t expect. There are also stories of global rescue, and global folktales.
The book is organized by habitat with factual information that will allow your child to learn so much more about animals and nature. Here are some of the facts you will learn:
- Sea otters sometimes hold each others hands while they sleep.
- The hippopotamus is the third largest animal in the world.
- Elephants are very relational. They form close ties with all their family members even if they leave the herd!
- The sand cat is one of the smallest wild cats in the world and when full grown can run up to 25 miles per hour!
