It has been a very long time since I have written anything on my blog. Seven months to be exact. The reasons for my absence were numerous. My family has been dealing with an ongoing hardship regarding one of my
children. I have kept quiet out of respect for them. I will be sharing more with their permission.
I am now realizing that it’s time to focus a little bit more on myself not out of selfishness, but for my own growth and sanity. Turning fifty has a way of reminding you that our time on this earth is limited.
I feel like I can’t seem to figure out where I’m supposed to be purpose wise and with the continuation of this blog. The technical side has always been an issue for me. I have hired people in the past but I am working very little now and can’t afford it. This has affected my passion for blogging. I used to wake up in the morning excited about opening up my site and deciding how I wanted to share my creativity and lessons I’ve learned.
Someone introduced me to an online writing conference called Hopewriters, which made me realize I do want to write. So that is what I’m going to do. I am going to show up here more often and share my heart and tips that make my life a little bit easier. Hopefully they will make your’s easier as well. I can’t consider myself a writer if I’m not writing. I’m putting all the technical stuff on hold for now and just doing the best I can. God will lead me with the rest when or if it is time.
Here are a few things that have been on my mind over the past few months:
Have you heard of the enneagram ? I guess I’m late to the game. I was listening to a podcast that discussed this topic on Typology. I have taken the Myers Briggs test and the Strength Finders test, which were helpful, but had never heard of this one.The enneagram I feel goes a bit deeper than the other two. It helps you explore what motivates you. I will be talking more in depth about this in another blog post.
Another thing I’ve been looking into is neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections, especially in response to learning or experience or following injury. It’s been all the buzz on blogs about chronic illness. It has helped some of them significantly.
The main program that I have heard of is called the Dynamic Neural Retraining System. There are two reasons why I haven’t tried it yet. The first is because I don’t have the money at this time. It’s around $250 which isn’t terrible, but it is a good chunk of money. The second reason was because I had heard from another blogger that it takes a great deal of concentration and commitment.
I was advised to start it when I was under the least amount of stress. I don’t think that will be anytime soon. You never have complete control of what may be going on in your life. It is still something I want to consider for the future.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT tapping) is something that is free.
When I first heard of it I thought it sounded a bit hokey, but it seems to help calm my anxious mind and replace my negative thoughts with positive ones. There are some that I buy into more than others. Check out this app that just came out.
If you have any questions or comments about what I’ve been up to I would love to hear from you in the comments. Be sure to follow me on social media. My channels can be found in the upper right hand corner.
Until next time friend,
Tanya
