Disclaimer: This book was given to me for free for an honest review. I was happy to be asked to do a How Big is Your Brave – children’s book review. The first thing that stood out to me in Ruth Soukup’s first children’s book was the gorgeous, bright pictures. They are beautiful, draw you in, and go along well with the story.
“Is your why bigger than your fear?” is a topic she talks a lot about on her podcast Do It Scared as well as her book by the same title and many other places. I have enjoyed reading her blog Living Well spending Less for many years now. The message of not letting our fears get in the way and how action is the answer to fear is drawn throughout her children’s book. The author also talks about the value of accountability. I like how she took this grown-up theme and made it easy and fun for a child to understand.
The main character is a sweet little bunny named Zippy. She wants to go to space camp but is afraid of not measuring up. She doesn’t know if she has the courage to follow her dream. I can relate to Zippy and I’m sure many children can too.
Luckily she has many encouragers like her brother, her mom, and the words of her grandmother. Once she gets to camp she makes several friends who also encourage her along the way. You can find out the rest when you read this delightful book! You also get some free bonuses!
I thoroughly enjoyed doing this How Big Is Your Brave – children’s book review. As a mother and former preschool teacher I highly recommend it!
