Has winter been hard on your hands? We have all been washing our hands even more during the pandemic. Sometimes I feel like my hands can’t handle being washed one more time! I have tried satin Hands by Marky Kay and love how they make my hands feel, but I was looking for something with more natural ingredients. I wanted to share with you this easy DIY hand softening treatment that does just that.
My hands have always cracked easily even when there isn’t a pandemic. Continual use of hand sanitizer is very drying to your skin. I have looked at many products for hand softening but then decided to try to make a DIY hand softening treatment. All you need are a few ingredients.
Ingredients:
Sugar, castile soap ( Can be found at places like Walmart and Walgreen’s and of course Amazon.), and vegetable glycerin (You can purchase vegetable glycerine at places like Walmart, Michael’s, and Amazon.)
I added 3/4 cup sugar to a pretty glass jar. Any jar will do as long as it has a wide enough mouth for your hand. I believe I got this at Walmart.
Next, I measured 1/4 cup castile soap. I already had peppermint so that is what I used. Mix in 1 Tablespoon vegetable glycerine with a fork. If you don’t have vegetable glycerine you may leave it out.
Next, I poured the mixture into the sugar. As you can see it becomes a bit frothy.
I had some pretty labels I had purchased at the Dollar Tree last year. They are a great place for labels. If you have a Circut cutting machine you could also use that. I am receiving one tomorrow. I can’t wait to learn how to use it!
The DIY hand treatment can become a little runny. Adjust it as you see fit. You could add more soap or sugar. I use a spoon to dispense it on my hands. A teaspoon is about all you need. Rub it into your hands just like you would when you wash your hands.
