I just love Crystal Paine’s website The Money Saving Mom. I refer to it everyday and love finding out what I can get for free or close to free that day. Crystal has come out with a new book called 21 days to a More Disciplined Life. I was honored to receive a copy to review. I can always use new ways to lead a more disciplined life, especially when it comes to blogging and housework.
The book is divided up into 21 parts. The first chapter that stood out to me was the one titled “Start With Small Things” I think sometimes we overwhelm ourselves thinking if we can’t do it perfectly or tackle the big things there is no use in starting. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Crystal suggests thinking of one small habit you want to stop or a habit you want to start and work on it for the next 18 days. She includes some charts that can help assist you.
Another concept she talked about was breaking your goal into bite size pieces. You could break it up into steps that will last for a few weeks or a few months. You can then set up a weekly appointment with yourself to go over your goals. She also recommends picking an accountability partner, which I like.
I especially liked the chapter titled “Do It Now” She talks about doing something right away that only takes 2 minutes or less. This frees our brain to hold more important information. She encourages the reader to think of at least 10 things you can do in less than 2 minutes. I really liked this idea. The next time I think I don’t have any time to do something productive I’ll get my list out and pick a few things. I know when I ‘m able to cross things off my list it gives me a good feeling. At the end of the book she has some printables for a Master To Do List and a Good Habit, Bad Habit sheet. I am really looking forward to delving into a lot of these concepts.
