Ten Ways to Give Back

Doesn’t it feel good to help someone out who may be less fortunate than you?  I know that we all can use help from time to time.  Even if we do not need help financially or materially we all can benefit from  a warm smile or encouraging words.  Our circumstances could change at any moment and we could be on the receiving end of help.  I am always looking for ways to use my hobbies and interests to help someone else.

Here are ten ways you can give back.  There is everything from making crafts to donating a coat.

helpfromhome.org-This is a UK based organization.  It consists of easy, no commitment 3rd party run micro-volunteering opportunities.  Most of them can be done from home and take anywhere from 10 seconds to 30 minutes.  What a great way to help!
cropsofluv.com– If you love to scrapbook here is a great way to help a child with a life threatening illness.  People gather to create memory scrapbooks for a child.  You can also help by donating money or supplies.  I love the fact that you can combined a hobby you love with helping someone!
givebackmail.com– Givebackmail gives 25% of revenue from ads to charity.  You do not have to change your e-mail address. What an easy way to give!  Check it out and see if this is for you.
rescue.org-The international Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps them to rebuild their lives.  There are many ways that you can help out.  You can donate money, purchase things in their shop,  or raise money online.  I can’t wait to participate!
cookiesforkidscancer.org-This is a national non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for pediatric cancer research.  They give support and resources for fundraiser events.
crafthope.typepad.com-Craft Hope was founded in 2009 by Jade to share handmade crafts with those less fortunate.  You can find the most recent project on the website and find out how you can participate.
onewarmcoat.org-On this site you can click on your state to see if there are any coat drives in your area.  The weather has been so cold lately.  I can’t imagine not owning a winter coat.
shareyoursoles.org-This organization has donated tens of thousands of shoes to impoverished people across the globe.  You can visit the site to see if there is a drop off site near you.
hats4thehomeless.org-You can crochet or knit a hat, or buy one and send it to the address listed on the site. 
scarveswithapurpose.com-Donate your handmade scarves or yarn for this site that started in the Chicago area.  If you love to knit this organization would be a perfect way to help others.

As you can see there are a lot of different ways you can help others.  Some take a few seconds and some may take a few weeks.  I’m hopeful that you will find something that fits your interests and time.

    What a wonderful list of ways to give back. I am going to check out the scrapbook one since that is one of my passions. I know how my past scrapbook pages have made the little ones laugh or ask, why am I not in any of these pictures and try to explain that they weren’t born yet.
