I’ve always wanted a room devoted to all things crafts. We needed our extra bedroom, which is the smallest room, for a guest room. I decided since we do not have guests that often, I would make it into a guest room slash craft room. I have posted pictures of it in another post.
I wanted to take a closer look at how I organize some of my things. I collect a lot of ribbon from presents, old projects, etc. I like to keep them in mason jar. |
I wound the ribbon around the clothes pin and secured it with a small straight pin. It also serves as a pretty decoration sitting on my shelf. |
I had some colorful silk flowers for my scrapbooking. Don’t they look pretty in a jar? |
I have a small plastic jar that I store my other scrapbooking embellishments in. |
.
I bought a pretty, green mug at The Dollar Store to display my colored pencils in. |
I bought these decorative boxes from Joanne Fabrics with a 50% coupon! I keep large ribbon scraps in the small one. My glue gun, glue sticks, etc. are kept in the large one. |
I would love to know how you organize your craft things?

Organize? That word is unfamiliar to BB. ; ) I too love the way you store/showoff your ribbon, very original. I’m in the process of converting my daughter’s old room into a guest/office/craft room- wish me luck. Gonna check out your other post to get some ideas. BB2U and hope to dance with you soon on my blog.

That sounds like a great idea! My daughter will be going to college in 15 months. I keep telling her that I am making her room into a craft room. LOL!

I found some really cute metal buckets at the Target dollar spot. They have a little square of chalkboard paint on them so you can label everything.

What a great idea! I’ll have to see if our Target has those. You can’t beat the price!

I’ve been meaning to organize my crafting items. You’ve inspired me to do so. Maybe going to pick up some jars this weekend and start the process. For my ribbon that is still in the roll I have just used a hanger meant for ties and hang each of them there. Thank you for sharing and stopping by from Mommy only has 2 hands.

Very smart use of the jars. Will have to include that for my stuff as I end up having lots of ‘little’ things but can’t seem to get them organized. I use a pants rack (with 4 bars) to hang my most used ribbon. ๐

I wish I had a whole room for crafts. Sigh we have a Craft box.

Over from SITS. Thanks for sharing how you organise your craft room. I’ve recently got back into crafting etc and love to see how others organise their stuff. Out spare room has always been a study/guest room but it is soon to be a study/craft/guest room ๐
Love you idea of the clothes pegs and ribbon. I have recently bought a set of small wooden drawers from the charity shop which I thought would be great to use as craft storage, I need to get some labels for them and I’m considering painting them but haven’t made my mind up yet. Your blog looks great and I shall definitely be investigating further. When I sort out our study/craft room I will do a post on it. Now following you on Twitter, Pinterest and your blog (always feel a little odd saying that, like I’m a stalker ;D)
Glad to have discovered your blog and thanks for sharing.

At the moment I don’t have organization for my craft stuff, although it is my goal this year to remedy that. I have a small home with all bedrooms taken and a sunroom that is my go-to for stashing everything else. It is my challenge this year to take yet another look at this room and figure out some way to be able to leave my scrapbooking supplies out for easy access(and keep my kids out of it!). Perhaps I’ll glean some tips from you to make this happen!

My crafts are in my desk in our front room, and in our walk-in closet. This would be great, except that our closet used to be one half of the front porch, and the owners did not insulate it very well. We currently have it blocked off, so that we do not freeze our toes off while trying to sleep! This means it is an adventure whenever I want to retrieve something out of there! However, I’m glad to be warmer at night. My main crafts are scrapbooking and sewing. My most-used scrapbook supplies are in my desk, along with my sewing machine and sewing kit. Anything else I need gets retrieved from the freezer – I mean, closet – when necessary.

I actually have my craft things scattered throughout my house, but you just inspired a new project for me to create! I have a very very tiny house, so a craft room is out of the question right now, but I do have an area in my home that I could create a craft “area”, and your ways of organizing crafts give me lots of ideas. Thanks! Very helpful.

The ribbons on clothespins is an awesome idea! I like the other things in jars as well. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Happy Sharefest. I hope you have a great week.

I need to do this. I have tried to at least keep the crafts contained, but they are all over my home. I would love to organize them into one area. We have a small house though and our second room is a guest room/nursery. If you have any ideas how to safely add a craft area to this I would love to hear it.

Would you come organize mine too? My craft supplies are in the basement right now – and while they’re in boxes, it’s hard to use them for crafts. I can’t see what is down there. We’re hoping to finish the basement this winter, but who knows if we’ll actually get to that project!

YAY!! You can organize my craft area anytime you want ๐
Thanks so much for sharing this at The DIY Dreamer… From Dream To Reality! I can’t wait to see what you link up tomorrow evening!

One of our projects for this year is creating an arts and craft area for the family. We have this weird little area between the living room and the back bedrooms where I plan to relocate all of our crafting supplies. Thanks for the organization ideas!

Well, I need to organize better! Most of my craft supplies are stuffed here and there somewhere in the basement. I’m afraid I don’t get to them as often as I’d like. Thanks for the suggestions!

I wish I had more space to organize mine in a room. Sadly they’re all crammed into a huge tote box!!

This looks great, I would love to have a room to devote just to that. Even if it was my office, but my office is currently the sitting room in my MBR. I store my craft, scrap booking items in a rubbermaid container, right now.

Most of our craft things are in a 3-drawer plastic storage box. I have been meaning to sort through it all and decide what needs to go and what can stay. Thanks for the motivation!

What, you mean stuffing all my craft stuff in a cupboard is not the way to go! I’m just kidding. I need to organize my craft stuff really bad. I have a table now and that is has far as I have gotten. I do have a lot of jars so you did give me inspiration, thank you!
Cheryl says
I am greatly lacking in the organization department for my crafting things. It’s an embarrassing mass of crafty clutter. I like your use of glass jars to organize and display. That idea is getting tucked away.
I hope to work on de-cluttering some tomorrow, my “Stop Procrastinating!” day. But the craft chaos is not on the list for tomorrow. I have a lot of craft interests: sewing supplies, paper crafting supplies, beads, yarn for crochet and knitting. I know I would do more crafting if I got it better organized.

An organized craft room…. oh, how I dream of one! Unfortunately, the room I had intended for both a library and craft room has turned more into a catch all room and a storage room. LOL It even has a bike that we don’t want to leave outside that my step father gave us for Christmas…..
I like a lot of our ideas. I need something other than file boxes to store my material stash in, and I SO need to find some sort of table that is high enough to cut out patterns without bending over it and ending up with a back that is sore and stiff. Wondering if I can find some mason jars that I’d be willing to use for something other than canning……
Your craft room looks really pretty!

My favorite is the ribbon on the clothes pins. This is brilliant for those little bits of left overs. & it looks pretty! Thanks for sharing & linking up @ DearCreatives.com

I use the round clothes pins for my ribbon, some tool box sorters for small embellishments, a fantastic band music holder for a paper shelf, and file folders for page kits. I’m sure there aer more – I have way too many crafty things! I need to get to using it all up! Great post! <3

What great ideas! I especially love the ribbon storing idea. I have a very small closet that I use for my craft room, and it’s not that organized sadly. I do have general areas for things and I use a fishing tackle organizer for small embellishments.
