In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share with you a Valentine’s Day garland I made. It was actually originally made as a Christmas garland. All I used was twine and scrap material. I cut the fabric into strips measuring 9 inches in length 3 inches wide. It depends on how long you want your garland, but I used about sixty strips. I just kept tying the strips to the twine and bunching them together.
I just happened to have some red material with hearts. I was trying to come up with something to dress up my mantel for Valentine’s day. I still had my Christmas garland hanging up. Yes, I’m one of those who is very reluctant and slow to take down Christmas decorations. I do it a little bit at a time. All of a sudden I had an aha moment. I could re-purpose it into a Valentine’s Day garland.
I went to my craft room and started looking for more scraps of material. I ended up finding some pieces of felt in white and pink. I also had some red foam sheets. I made a heart template and traced a few hearts, cut them out and hot glued them onto the garland.
Here is the finished product. I wish it hadn’t frayed on the ends. I need to do some research to see how to fix that. My aunt gave me the small basket filled with Christmas goodies so I decided to use it since it had red trim. I already had the LOVE candle and made the heart candle last year. You can see it in last year’s Valentine’s display. I got the wooden blocks on sale last year from Dayspring. What do you like to decorate with for Valentine’s day?

This is super cute! Great way to use fabric scraps that might be unusable otherwise. Thanks for sharing!
